SUMMARY

Support USAMRIID as a registered nurse in clinical research and regulatory affairs pertaining to clinical studies, healthcare management, training and education programs

The core mission at USAMRIID is to protect the warfighter from biological threats. Additionally USAMRIID also investigates disease outbreaks and threats to public health. Research conducted at USAMRIID leads to medical solutions, therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostics and information that benefit both military personnel and civilians. USAMRIID is a subordinate laboratory of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Material Command.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participate in USAMRIID’s training programs as a Subject Matter Expert to support resident and on-line programs provided to CONUS & OCONUS organizations
  • Assist in study/protocol development, preparation and execution as required
  • Participate in the conduct of clinical research studies as a project team member as required
  • Participate in the development of study plans and necessary infrastructure for the implementation of approved clinical studies/protocols and other training projects
  • Participate in meetings and presentations related to assigned duties and/or work performed
  • Provide training to staff and co-workers in planned clinical studies, GCP and other special knowledge/skills necessary for the conduct of assigned clinical studies and training programs
  • Provide administrative and logistics support for conduct of meetings and conferences.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities independently based on broad guidelines and objectives provided by the supervisor and own initiative
  • In addition to the above enumerated duties and responsibilities, the Nurse may be assigned new duties on an “as needed” basis in conjunction with new projects initiated by the Division of Medicine
  • Required travel outside the United States as needed to perform duties in support of USAMRIID’s training, education & research projects. Travel 1 to 10 nights per month may be required
  • Obtain and maintain secret security clearance

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory/management authority or describe supervision

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • State nursing licensure within the U.S.
  • Ten (10) years demonstrated experience of combined informatics, management, EMR systems (military & civilian), acute care clinical, and staff education experience
  • Trained or willing to receive Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training
  • Preferred Qualifications include:
    • Experience in a professional position providing training and education, guidance and technical expertise in interdisciplinary/ multi-service teams of professions, extensive clinical experience and ER/flight/transport nursing and critical care
    • M.S. Nursing
    • Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
    • Experience in the following computer software programs: Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Minimum of a BS degree
  • Obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport
  • Sufficient education and experience to understand the science in order to facilitate planning and execution of the project
  • Proven experience meeting deadlines and standards

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Highly organized self-starter with excellent customer service skills
  • Articulate and confident
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to gather project requirements and expectations for all levels of management to include in the project plan
  • Must be a US Citizen

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed in office space
