SUMMARY

 

CNSP is looking for a Construction Inspector – Journeyman to support the F-22 Formal Training Unit Beddown at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA under this Contracted Support Services contract.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Be familiar with and adhere to all instructions outlined in the 32 series Civil Engineer AFIs, Unified Facilities Criteria, and applicable building codes.
  • Work with 633 CES/CENM Project Managers to ensure construction contractor compliance with approved plans and specification for various construction contracts. Contracts may be for the construction or renovation of large, complex administrative office buildings, hospitals, aircraft maintenance and industrial facilities, or utility distribution systems.
  • Coordinate with construction contractor representatives concerning work scheduling, interpretation of plans and specifications, selection of work methods, and acceptability of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Investigate and report on controversial situations which have either led to formal claims or are expected to lead to such claims by the construction contractor.
  • Coordinate with the contracting officer to correct construction contract deficiencies, unacceptable material, or work performed to ensure compliance with the contract requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate construction contract progress schedules noting work progress, delays, or other problems that could interfere with construction, review construction contractor’s cost breakdowns, progress measurement data, reports of material and equipment used, and field inspection and survey reports in order to compute periodic payments and recommend approval/disapproval of contractor submittals and progress schedules.
  • Prepare various documents, reports, and correspondence and maintain daily logs and safety reports addressing the progress of construction and the administration of the contract.
  • Provide Construction Dailies and Weekly Activity Reports.
  • Oversee construction to ensure inspection practices and procedures involved in the inspection of building materials, workmanship, utilities, and the installation of systems are followed.
  • Oversee construction to ensure safety practices in the construction industry are followed.
  • Interface with other technical staff within an internal team, base civil engineering staff, installation stakeholders, government contracting staff, and construction contractors.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

 

This position will not have supervisory/management authority.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • Completed BA/BS or MA/MS degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or construction related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related construction experience is required.
  • Professional-level certification and/or registration is highly desirable.
  • Utilizing and applying computer software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Working knowledge of construction inspection practices is required.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles is required.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state codes/guidelines is required.
  • United States citizen with a clear background for government security investigation with the ability to obtain a Clearance or Common Access Card (CAC)

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

This position is primarily performed in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment as well as working outside in a job site environment.
