SUMMARY

Janitor cleans and keeps in an orderly condition working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, commercial or other established areas. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, commercial or other established areas. 
  • Duties involve a combination of the following: Sweeping, mopping or scrubbing, and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory or management authority.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be legally residing in the United States.
  • Must have the ability to follow instructions and read signs.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of common cleaning solvents, cleaning tools, and equipment.
  • Must know the proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions, and must be able to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot, make adjustments, and perform minor repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurability. 
  • Must be able to perform moderate lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, walk, climb of stairs and pushing is required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily performed in a climate controlled office setting.

May be exposed to dirt, dust, disagreeable odors and cleaning agents
