SUMMARY

Assists project manager in managing various facets of assigned programs, including timelines, budgeting, technical performance, personnel, duty assignments, and risk mitigation.  Interfaces with customers, various business units and functions to manage project milestones and major events. Participates in the administration of contracts at all stages of development.  Serves as major interface between project customers and company employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs the duties and functions of the project manager on a temporary, as-needed basis.
  • Assists in the development and management of various facets of assigned projects, including scheduling, pricing, technical performance, and workload assignment to employees.
  • Assists in the administration of contracts at all stages of development, including negotiation, modification, proposal formulation, planning, setting of financial conditions, review, interpretation, and fiscal management.
  • Helps develop and maintain cost, performance, and schedule baselines for assigned projects.
  • Assists in coordinating the work of various departments/individuals on specific projects to ensure that each project is completed on schedule and under cost.
  • Maintains regular contact with customers, keeping them informed of delivery and/or production schedules, potential contract deviations, and payment status.
  • Assists in providing proactive risk mitigation measures for all assigned projects.
  • Maintains contact with internal functional managers, supplier representatives, and customer representatives concerning overall project execution, internal operational decisions, scheduling requirements, and specific contractual issues/clarifications.
  • Participates in briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives and customers.
  • Assists in coordination and development of proposals and business capture strategies as needed.
  • Develops and provides presentations to customers and senior management as required on project cost, schedule, performance, and specific issues.
  • Aids in the formulation and development of practical solutions as related to assigned projects.
  • Maintains detailed knowledge of US Government contracting regulations as applied to small and minority business contracting.
  • Assists with the annual, quarterly, and monthly inventory of client owned equipment and ensures quality of equipment is maintained.
  • Supports the project staff by facilitating project logistics such as equipment shipments, travel requirements, and on site installations as needed.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

No supervisory authority.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor degree and 5+ years of professional experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to determine the urgency and apply commonsense/understanding in successfully the assigned mission/function/instructions.  
  • Should be skilled in the common business software applications of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as company specific software/programs for timekeeping, accounting, or quality.  
  • Interpersonal skills; telephone skills; patience; problem solving skills; attention to detail; organization skills; accuracy; time management.
  • Ability to work virtually and manage personnel in multiple time zones

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Moderate sound (e.g., business office with office machines and computers, people traffic); the ability to see and read computer screens, and the ability to talk or hear.
