Cherokee Nation System Solutions (CNSS) is partnering with the U.S. Geological Survey Southwest Region who serves the Nation by providing reliable scientific information to describe and understand the Earth; minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters; manage water, biological energy, and mineral resources; and enhance and protect the quality of life. The USGS Southwest Region supports the USGS Science Centers and other USGS locations within the DOI Unified Regions of Lower Colorado Basin and California Great Basin.

Job Description:

Cherokee Nation Businesses is seeking a PROGRAM MANAGER for a contract with the USGS Southwest Region providing scientific, geological, hydrologic, research, mapping and cartography, and other related services in support of the USGS and its customers across the United States. This is an ideal position that may be located at the in Denver, CO. or Sacramento, CA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Task Order based on a contract with an average annual aggregate revenue of greater than $5M providing a wide range of scientific, research and geospatial technical services.
  • Serve as the single Point of Contact (POC) for the contracting officer, providing programmatic reporting, and providing overall management for all contracting issues.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the contract and manage ID/IQ task orders at the USGS Northeast centers and locations.
  • Responsible for the quality and timely delivery of all contractual requirements and task order deliverables.
  • Manage and perform direct contract financial functions including budgeting, purchasing, travel, payment approval, and invoicing and receivables control.
  • Serve as the hiring manager for all Cherokee Nation Businesses staff positions supporting the contract and ensure staff meet all required qualifications and performance standards.

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position does have supervisory capacity or management authority as delegated.

Education and/or Experience:

  • This position is open only to US Citizens
  • Candidates will be required to undergo a US federal background investigation and drug screen.
  • Candidate selected will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must meet all eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Candidates must have a Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college and/or university in a Science, Engineering, and Business, Computer Science or related scientific and/or technical discipline. Masters degrees are preferred.
  • Candidates must have a required minimum of 10 years of relevant experience supporting the U.S. government programs related to scientific, geological, hydrological, research, mapping and cartography, and related scientific and technical services.
  • Direct experience supporting the USGS programs as a government employee or federal contractor is preferred.
  • Experience as a U.S. Government Program Manager; or as a Program Manager for a federal ID/IQ
  • Candidates with PMP certification are preferred
  • Candidates with prior federal with the USGS experience are preferred.

• United States Geological Survey (USGS) geospatial programs and products.


This position is primarily performed in a secured federal office setting, and controlled office environment.
