Cherokee Nation Management and Consulting is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist to aid in their mission in providing communications and administrative support to the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center’s Public Affairs Office.


Includes the following:

  • Produce or facilitate visual mission products (e.g. presentations, print collaterals, templates, posters, flyers, etc.)
  • Research and gather information for journalism products, technical documents and analysis tools
  • Communicate in person, on the phone and email with clients, subject matter experts and stakeholders
  • Assist with administrative projects through research, reporting and tracking vital information
  • Create written and visual communication products, such as fact sheets, news stories, press releases, campaigns, etc.
  • Fact check and perform quality assurance/quality control on completed products
  • Assess current communication platforms, evaluate effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement
  • Participate in management and administrative process improvement and organizational transformation efforts.
  • Track editorial and leadership calendars and help manage related tasks.
  • Provide training for systems and processes.
  • Provide meeting support to include setup of audiovisual equipment, invitations, conference room booking, presentation development, record-keeping, etc.


  • Must be a self-starter with excellent time management and interaction skills and possess a willingness to learn
  • The ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is a must (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with SharePoint and task management is preferred
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to respond to complicated, short suspense tasks
  • Experience with writing/editing i.e. journalism and technical writing
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of AP style and editing experience are highly preferred
  • The ability to pass a drug screen and background check is required.




  • 1-3 years communications/multimedia/public affairs/public relations or business administration experience
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Business or similar field required


  • Work will be onsite with clients at AFIMSC headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, in an office environment.
  • Some travel (less than 25%) required.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
