SUMMARY

The contractor shall provide laboratory and scientific support within the Center for Genome Sciences (CGS) to cover CGS Genomic Characterization capabilities.  The contractor shall conduct research investigations centered on Molecular Biology, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Immunology, Genetics, and/or Biochemistry or similar field. They will perform laboratory experiments/protocols directed by CGS PIs and Supervisors.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Perform experiments, data collection and analysis
  • Investigate COVID Transmissibility
  • Develop COVID Animal Models
  • Utilize Synthetic Genetic tools for Product Characterization
  • Preferred current USAMRIID BPRP access

 

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This positions has no supervisory/management authority

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • PhD Molecular Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics or similar science
  • Preferred experience at USAMRIID as research scientist

 

 

 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Ability to reverse genetics of SARS2 utilizing Gibson Assembly and BAC systems
  • Ability to develop SARS2 clade variant reverse genetics clones
  • Ability to develop important SARS2 variant reverse genetics clones
  • Ability to develop silent mutations barcode system in WA1 SARS2 stock to quantify transmission rate and bottlenecks
  • Ability to develop SARS2 domain programmable arrays for assessing host immune response
  • Ability to develop Coronavirus domain programmable arrays for assessing host immune response
  • Ability to develop SPIKE SARS-like Domain Diversity Libraries for assessing the host immune response
  • Ability to support high-complexity NGS protocols (RNAccess) to sequence characterize animal isolated SARS2 viral populations
  • Ability to conduct CRISPR-Cas9 gain of function and loss of function experiments to identify Host Innate Restriction Mechanisms against VLP production use genome-wide knockout screen
  • Ability to conduct siRNA gain of function and loss of function experiments to identify Host Innate Restriction Mechanisms against VLP production
  • Ability to examine the synergistic effect of signaling pathway knockdown in VLP production
  • Ability to maintain BPRP status
