CNSP is looking for a Senior Project Manager – Planning and Implementation to support the Department of Energy (DOE) Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Headquartered in Lakewood, CO, and support our team providing technical services to the under this Technical Support Services contract.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Served as an expert project manager for implementing an effective WAPA Power System Change Control system; planning, implementation, team management, and assessment and improvement of supporting and impacted processes. Duties support multiple business lines across the organization, including but not limited to Maintenance, Construction, Asset Management, Operations, Planning, and Engineering Design.
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget, and at the required level of quality.
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase.
  • Communicate the project outcome with a project closure document that includes lessons learned, etc.

Supervisory/Management Authority:

This position may have supervisory or management authority designated as needed.

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor's Degree required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, risk analysis, quality .management, budgeting, and system change control.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience scheduling tasks and working with fieldcraft, equipment vendors, and contractors.
  • Combined 5 years of experience in transmission and distribution systems, substations, or generation in the utility industry.
  • PMP certification (preferred). 
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens.
  • Candidates must successfully pass a U.S. government federal background investigation and a drug screen.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating, improving, and implementing process improvement strategies.
  • Microsoft Office applications to include Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Process mapping, matrices, slides.
  • Proficient in system integration tools.
  • Skill in accurate and useful oral and written communication of the technical subject.Ability to deal with a variety of people professionally and courteously in diversified situations.
  • First-rate project management skills, including the use of project management software tools.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to connect the dots, and understand the interrelation of multiple disparate processes.
  • Some knowledge of I.T. systems, because some of these processes need to be automated.
  • Ability to design and drive a change control dashboard and workflow.
  • Understanding of methodologies such as PMBOK, LEAN, etc., with the ability to adapt and apply those principles appropriately to this unique environment.

Work Environment:

This position is primarily performed in a secured federal office setting, a controlled office environment, as well as working outside in a job site diverse and changing weather environment.
