CNSP is looking for a Senior Project Manager – Planning and Implementation to support the Department of Energy (DOE) Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) Headquartered in Lakewood, CO, and support our team providing technical services to the under this Technical Support Services contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
WAPA is in the early stages of developing and implementing consistent and effective means to ensure data and information about changes in the power system are accurate and flow to and through consuming processes and functions promptly. This is a far-reaching and complex change control effort that, when done correctly, will achieve a broad spectrum of objectives.
Most importantly, accurate power system data in our information systems and various system software models will facilitate informed decision-making, thereby improving our workers' safety, the reliability of our power system, our ability to manage assets best, and our ability to maximize our power marketing capabilities.
Accurate and timely data derived from known good sources and stored correctly in approved and accessible, authoritative systems will improve the efficiency of our processes and utilization of our highly talented WAPA staff.
This Senior Project Manager has an unusually broad purview, requiring team leadership and matrix management of 17 team members, and interactions with 50-60 additional people feeding and synthesizing information. This change management system touches 75 % of the WAPA organization. The SPM will follow the ripple effects of change, ensuring information reaches the right processes at the right time. Without this capability, the organization can't make the right decisions, and the wrong choice could cause injuries or fail to maximize capacity, availability, and marketability.
The Senior Project Manager should be able to stay ahead of team members with tasks and deliverable assignments, keep the work on track, and communicate effectively, including capturing their knowledge and sharing it with counterparts across the region.
This Senior Project Manager must be someone who not only manages to a plan, but can determine what needs to be done, develop and enact a plan, hold people accountable to deadlines and quality, and prioritize tasks and targets.
This position may have supervisory or management authority designated as needed.
