The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is the premier federal agency charged with protecting and enhancing America's treasured fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. USFWS maintains a network of public lands totaling upwards of 150 million acres split into eight geographic regions and nearly 700 field stations.

CNT is seeking a Java Developer to help support the efforts of the USFWS.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Responsible for developing, testing, implementing and maintaining web-based application systems
  • Troubleshoots system problems and issues and looks for ways to improve the application
  • Performs routine programming assignments that do not require domain knowledge or experience but do require knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
  • Work directly with senior Team Lead to receive work assignments.

 

 

Specific skills and Requirements:

  • JEE programming skills (JSP/Java, with Groovy experience preferred)
  • Experience with Web Frameworks (Grails, Spring, Struts preferred)
  • Experience with Object Relational Mapping frameworks (Hibernate, JPA, GORM preferred)
  • Experience with Relational Databases
  • Experience with Drupal
  • Experience with client side interactivity and design using Javascript, XHTML or HTML5, and CSS (JQuery or Twitter Bootstrap preferred)
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat
  • Experience with Linux operating systems preferred
  • Some experience with cloud-based technologies (Amazon AWS preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral).

 

 

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

None

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Experience: Four years full time Software development experience in an increasingly responsible position

Education:  BS degree in Computer Science ore related curriculum or equivalent.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Groovy, Grails, Web Applications, Ajax, Java, JavaScript, JQuery, Bootstrap

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk or sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, controls or equipment; and reach forward with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include visual acuity to Colorado driver's license requirements, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee might lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move 50 lbs.
