SUMMARY

 

The U.S. Army Medical Command is a direct reporting unit of the U.S. Army that provides command and control of the Army's fixed-facility medical, dental, and veterinary treatment facilities, providing preventive care, medical research and development and training institutions

The Fort Meade MEDDAC consists of five independent medical treatment facilities across three states and Washington, D.C. MEDDAC supports five Army installations and an enrolled population of about 65,000 beneficiaries. The five medical treatment facilities have additional outlying clinics.

 

We are seeking a qualified Space Utilization Specialist to provide space utilization support assistance for the Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center (KACC), Ft. Meade, Maryland and outlying clinics under the Ft Meade MEDDAC area of responsibility. Candidates should be well-rounded, effective communicators able to work independently and meet aggressive deadlines.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilize AutoCAD Drawings to address space utilization requests and related project management efforts.
  • Perform site visits to assess site conditions, clarify customer requested objectives, identify infrastructure aspects of the medical facility, and collect data needed to accomplish Space Utilization briefings.
  • Provide monthly workload and performance reports for submission to support the Facility Manager.
  • Provide a Monthly Activity Report to the Facility Manager that identifies significant accomplishments, current or future problems, and action taken to correct such identified problems, and recommendations for business improvements.
  • Provide support to facility management operations with all aspects related to space utilization, to include typing up monthly meeting agenda’s and meeting minutes.
  • Provide support utilizing institutional knowledge to support space management studies/allocation.
  • Provide support services to the operation of logistics database to close out tasks, perform quality assurance on completed PM tasks identified by the facility, and
  • Maintain room inventory consisting of legible floorplan drawings and spreadsheets identifying occupancy, applicable codes, standards and regulations.
  • Provide assistance to the Facility Management Division in processing various requests, coordinating and scheduling work, developing and maintaining a library of facility manuals and manufacturer recommendations
  • Maintain AutoCAD documentation, such as manuals, regulations, and operating instructions in hard copy and electronic format.
  • Assist in the management of all activities associated with the processing, executing and documentation of all security badges and associated post clearances required for contractor personnel authorized to perform work.
  • Provide training and technical support to the Facilities Management staff on the use of the plotter.

SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY

This position has no supervisory or management authority

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field is required
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Experience reviewing space plans, construction plans, and drawings
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment

 

Desired:

  • Knowledge/experience assisting projects within medical facilities and laboratories.
  • Knowledge/experience with The Joint Commission Survey
  • Knowledge of Life Safety Code

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The majority of the work is to be performed Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day/40 hours per week, however maybe required to work nights and on Government holidays (as a –flex schedule) in order to accommodate government contractors working during these time frames. This will be a common requirement due to patient care restriction regarding day-time work. The position may require up to 25% travel to meet the client requirements.
